Many Christians misunderstand their status in the Age of Grace that we live. The Apostle Paul summed it up very well in 1 Corinthians 10:23 (KJV):
“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.”
When people find out that I am a Christian they often ask me about things like God's view on Tattoos and Piercings. During the time before Jesus Christ was born the Jews were chosen as the people of God. They were to set an example to the many pagan nations whose false gods were leading them to destruction through the temptations of the devil. God wanted the Jews to be separate from the pagans and the things they did.
Leviticus 19:28 (KJV):
Tattoos and Piercings not only honored false gods and self destructive behavior, they honored Satan and dishonored God. The idea THEN is the same as it is NOW. God's People need to live and act in a way that shows they are different from unsaved people. As Christians we do not live under the law that the Jews did. However, even without those restrictions, we are expected to separate ourselves from the unsaved and any behaviors they have which tend to dishonor God.
2 Corinthians 6:17 (KJV):
This verse tells the unsaved to accept God's Gift of Salvation through Jesus Christ and reject the traditions and behaviors of the Lost. One saved, we are to act in ways that bring glory to God and let others know we are Christians. We have freedom in Christ, but as Paul indicates ‘“All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.”
The devil enjoys mocking God. He wants to drag the unsaved to Hell because he knows that Hell is his future home. Thanks to his efforts, many people will join him.
Matthew 25:41 (KJV):
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV):
The devil has brought many of the ancient pagan beliefs and practices into our modern world; not just Tattoos and Piercings. Child Sacrifice was one of his favorites. It's back and legal in the form of Abortion.
Deuteronomy 12:31 (KJV):
Here are the facts. If you have Tattoos or Piercings that will not send you to Hell. If you have had an Abortion that will not send you to Hell. The only thing that can send you to Hell is your refusal to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. Then, as a Christian, you should act in ways that bring glory to God and lead others to Christ.
Tatoos and Piercings
“Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.”
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.”
“Then shall He say also unto them on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
“Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.”
