UFOs: How The Government Keeps Their Greatest Secret ...by Bill Knell

On October 6, 1989 I was part of a press conference to call for a U.S. Congressional Inquiry into UFOs. It was held at the Penta Hotel in New York City. I was fortunate to be part of a panel which included Dr. Brian O’Leary (NASA Space Shuttle Astronaut), Stanton Friedman (Nuclear Physicist), Budd Hopkins (renowned Artist, Alien Abduction researcher and best-selling Author of Missing Time and Intruders) and Michael Luckman (noted Publicist).

I was there to talk about physical evidence cases like the landing of a UFO in a New York City Park which occured that year. The incident was reported to me, so I investigated it. I found more than a few things that pointed to what is known as “high strangeness”. Among the many witnesses to the event which took place in Kissena Park, Queens, NYC, were a bus full of people. The bus happened to be passing the park at the time of the landing on its usual route. A circular area of affected grass, an affected tree, magnetized lamp posts and unusual material not native to the area was left behind.

Local, national and international news organizations covered the press conference, but none of us were under any illusion that it would put pressure on elected government officials. We all knew better. What we really wanted to do was use that platform to tell the public the things that their government refused to acknowledge. A government that has used people inside and out of the UFO research community to spread half truths and lies about the UFO phenomenon. That effort continues today.

The Pentagon recently admitted to studying UFOs as a threat over the past decade. The program was secret, but not classified. Soon after it ended one of the top people involved retired and came forward saying he was going to release some amazing information he came across during the study. Well, there is a one-two punch if I have ever heard of one. They are setting us all up for more disinformation and that's an old story. It's a classic government trick that never gets old.

It's no surprise that a large number of former government employees dominate the make up of popular UFO research organizations in the USA. It is equally unimpressive and even sadder that most of the big cases they investigate end up as hoaxes. A good example is the Gulf Breeze, Florida, photographic case. It fell apart after models of the objects being photographed were found in the attic of a house previously owned by Ed Walters, the photographer. Meanwhile, these organizations ignore cases loaded with credible witnesses and physical evidence like the Kissena Park UFO Landing. I wonder why?

My advice to independent UFO researchers and anyone interested in the subject is this: Don't drink the Koolade. Beware of so-called Whistleblowers when it comes to information about UFOs. We are all up against a secret bigger than any other that our government protects to the exclusion of all else. Let's look at a good example of this...

In 1977 Eric Matthew Gairy was the Prime Minister of Greneda, a small Carribean Island nation. He spent a lot of time in New York where he heard more about UFOs than in Geneda, a subject that interested him. Gairy was able to get permission for a 1978 presentation to the United Nations that he hoped would lead to an official U.N. investigation or agency to study the phenomenon. He was permitted to release this statement in 1977 as a prelude to the event the following year:

“The General Assembly invites interested member states to take appropriate steps to coordinate on a national level scientific research and investigation into extraterrestrial life, including unidentified flying objects, and to inform the secretary-general of the observations, research and evaluation of such activities.”

As soon as the statement was released and the event was announced, the UK tried to shut it down. Greneda was a former UK property and remained a member of the Commonwealth after it was granted independence. British officials were upset about Giairy's call for the United Nations to set up a unit to investigate UFOs. According to released MOD files, the British believed it would demean the reputation of the UN and pointed out that chasing down UFO reports was not a function of the diplomatic organization. However, I have no doubt that the USA encouraged this action so that both Nations would not be in danger of having the world learn what they already knew about UFOs. The British released this statement:

"The British delegation does not think that the establishment of an agency for research into unidentified flying objects is appropriate to the functions of the United Nations. Hopefully, a confrontation with the representatives of Grenada can be avoided, but the U.K. should not hesitate to make its views known as and when appropriate."

Giairy was persuaded to withdraw his proposal but went on to call for 1978 to be designated "the year of the UFO". Almost as if by magic, the Prime Minister lost his position to a coup in 1979. However, the 1978 showcase at the UN did happen and was popular with many of the member Nations. The USA, UK and some other Nations had no one present. I was pleased that a friend of mine named Colman von Keviczky was deeply involved with the project. He worked at the UN and served as Director of the Intercontinental UFO Research and Analytic Network. Colman later appeared on my cable show sponsored by Time/Life and was one of my most popular guests.

The program was put together with the help of well known Ufologists and interested parties. These included USAF astronaut Col. Gordon Cooper, astronomer Jacques Vallee, astronomer/astrophysicist Claude Poher, former Project Bluebook scientist Dr J. Allen Hynek, UFO researcher Lee Spiegel, UFO crash / retrieval researcher Leonard Stringfield and University of Colorado psychologist David Saunders. As soon as the event was announced the UK tried to shut it down. Greneda was a former UK property and remained a member of the Commonwealth after it was granted independence.

Can our government keep a secret? Here is a good example: Few people know or care that a secret space program has existed apart from NASA since the 1950s and every Vice President starting with Richard Nixon has been its overseer. That includes Vice President Pence...

from CBS News... (7/2018)

Vice President Mike Pence vows to make space program great again... Vice President Mike Pence, chairman of the recently re-established National Space Council, toured the Kennedy Space Center Thursday and vowed to renew American leadership on the high frontier, telling spaceport workers "our nation will return to the moon, and we will put American boots on the face of Mars."Speaking to a throng of spaceport workers inside the cavernous Vehicle Assembly Building where Saturn 5 moon rockets and space shuttles were once put together -- and where NASA's gargantuan Space Launch System rockets will be assembled -- Pence provided no details about the Trump administration's space policy or what changes might be in the offing. But as the chairman of the re-formed National Space Council, the vice president promised that under President Donald Trump, "America will lead in space once again."

Over the years I have had guest spots on radio and TV shows with Astronauts. Most claimed no knowledge of a UFO cover up and were emphatic that they had not encountered UFOs or Aliens. What surprised me was how little they actually knew about what has happened between UFOs and NASA. A good example is a recording I have of Astronaut John Blauha saying, "We still have the alien spacecraft under observance." Most never heard of it, but I have been playing it in my seminars since 1989. Listen below...

When I presented a lecture in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in the 1990s I had several guest spots on popular radio shows to promote it. We were packed that night. So much so that I had to do two lectures to accommodate all the people. That's because during the first one cadets from the Air Force Academy bought up most of the seats. It seems that one or two professors heard the radio shows and assigned their students to attend my lecture, then write a paper on it later. I was shocked that most of the students later told me that they had never heard of many of the cases I spoke about. They were stunned and excited. It was easy to see that the military was keeping the truth from them just like they have from the rest of us.
